Patellar tendinopathy toolkit

Welcome to the TREK patellar tendinopathy toolkit!

This toolkit was developed with the input of researchers, physiotherapists, patients and stakeholders, to be a supporting tool for physiotherapists, who are health professionals that play an important role in the diagnosis, assessment and treatment of people with patellar tendinopathy.

The content of this toolkit includes evidence-based educational information, presented in interactive ways and through different audiovisual resources so that interested physiotherapists can expand their knowledge related to patellar tendinopathy. The modules of this toolkit were independently designed such that physiotherapists can engage with the content in a self-pace and according to their own interests or knowledge gaps.

Statement of intent

The resources in this toolkit should not be used as a standardized prescription for the care of patients with patellar tendinopathy. Physiotherapeutic approaches are determined on the basis of all clinical data available for an individual patient and are subject to change as scientific knowledge and technology advance and standards of care evolve.

The recommendations expressed on this website are not intended to replace consultation with a healthcare professional qualified to manage patients with patellar tendinopathy and should be considered as guidance only. Following the recommendations contained in the toolkit will not ensure a successful outcome in every patient. The ultimate judgment regarding a particular clinical procedure or treatment plan should be made by the physiotherapist, based on clinical experience and expertise, and in light of the clinical presentation of the patient, the available evidence, available diagnostic and treatment options, and taking into account expectations and patient preferences.
